This thesis deals with the issue of an artist and his relationship to society in the works ?Tonio Kröger? by Thomas Mann and ?Peter Camenzind? by Hermann Hesse. The thesis tries to clarify the term "artist issue", but also the development and the influence of artistic gift of an individual on his relationship to life and society. Die Abschlussarbeit untersucht die Bürger-Künstler-Problematik in Thomas Manns Tonio Kröger und Hermann Hesses Peter Camenzind. Es wird, nicht nur die Definition des Begriffs gegeben, sondern es werden auch die Entwicklung und der Einfluss der Kunstbegabung im Verhältnis zum Leben, erklärt.
