Economic crises in USSR – Polina Mitiukhina

Abstract:

The goal of the thesis is to understand the causes, consequences and characteristics of economic crises in the USSR and in countries with different economic systems. In this work, the author draws on existing economic theories in the field of crisis studies, as well as studies development of regions after the collapse. The methodology is based on the theoretical part describing macroeconomic indicators, definitions, properties and signs of economic crises in history. The practical part presents a descriptive analysis of the crises, their long-term effects on the collapse of the USSR, the development of regions within the Union and after the collapse. In addition, the next part of the practical study presents a comparative analysis of the economic crises in a marketed and planned systems. The second part of the practical work includes a comparison of mechanisms of overcoming economic crises and suggests considering the results of anti-crisis measures. In the final part, the author concludes about the impact of economic crises on the collapse of the USSR, infers that the planned economic system is enable to transform, and ineffective in times of crisis, describes weak sides of central planned economy, and in the end summarizes that any economic system of USSR type is susceptible to any changes and vulnerable without a balance between control and liberalization. …víceméně
