The aim of this thesis is to look at the conceptualization of the lexemes "foolishness" and "cleverness" in German and Polish. It is divided into three parts. In the first part theoretical findings from the field of cognitive linguistics, primarily the new concept of metaphor and metonymy are introduced. Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá konceptualizací lexémů hloupost a chytrost v německém a polském jazyce. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí. V první části jsou představeny teoretické poznatky z oblasti kognitivní lingvistiky, především nové pojetí metafory a metonymie.
