Economic cooperation between the United States of America and the Soviet Union during World War II (Lend-Lease)

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the agreement that was concluded between two world superpowers, the United States of America and the Soviet Union, during World War II. This agreement came to be known as the Lend-Lease Act. Under this agreement, the United States was allowed to lend, lease, sell, or exchange war material and other supplies to all the nations that were at war with Nazi Germany. Although there were many nations that received this aid, this thesis focuses on the Soviet Union. The first goal of this thesis is to provide information about the geopolitical aspect of the Lend-Lease agreement chronologically from its ratification on March 11, 1941, to the termination of this agreement on September 20, 1945. The second goal is to ascertain whether this material aid was vital for the Soviet Union to survive the war.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dohodou, která byla uzavřena mezi dvěmi světovými velmocemi, Spojenými státy americkými a Sovětským svazem, během druhé světové války. Tato dohoda se nazývala Zákon o půjčce a pronájmu. Pomocí této dohody mohly Spojené státy půjčit, pronajmout, prodat nebo vyměnit válečný a jiný materiál všem zemím, které byly ve válce s nacistickým Německem. Ačkoli tuto materiální pomoc obdrželo více zemí, tato práce je zaměřena na Sovětský svaz. Prvním cílem této práce je poskytnout informace o geopolitickém aspektu této dohody chronologicky od jejího podepsání, ke kterému došlo 11. března 1941, až po její ukončení dne 20. září 1945. Druhým cílem je zjistit, jestli tato materiální pomoc měla rozhodující vliv pro udržení Sovětského svazu ve válce.
