Desing and implementation of modules in the BNS system for long-term cashflow planning

Abstract:

Ekonomické prostředí se stává čím dál více nestabilní. Vlivem pandemie a válečných konfliktů se spousta firem za poslední roky dostala do menších či větších finančních problémů a některé byly nucené z těchto důvodů svoji činnost ukončit. Za účelem rychlejší reakce na nepříznivé vlivy vnějšího a vnitřního prostředí společnosti, se čím dál více firem uchyluje k investicím do nástrojů pro podporu řízení finanční výkonnosti. Ty zpravidla poskytují mechanismy pro rychlejší a efektivnější plánování a následné sledování odchylek vytvořeného plánu od skutečnosti. Na základě těchto podkladů následně management společnosti zvažuje nejvhodnější varianty dalších strategických, taktických, ale i operativních kroků. Většina firem se však uchyluje především k plánování a sledování výsledku hospodaření, zpravidla v podobě výkazu sestaveného na míru společnosti, známého jako manažerská výsledovka. Některé společnosti však v tomto směru nesledují do detailu pohyb peněžních prostředků, což zpravidla bývá důvod, proč je daná společnost nucena ukončit svoji činnost. Platí totiž pravidlo, že podniky nekončí z důvodu nízkého či záporného zisku, ale z důvodu nedostatku peněžních prostředků. Touto oblastí se zaobírá i tato práce. Cílem této práce je návrh a implementace analytické a plánovací aplikace v systému BNS (Business Navigation System) pro vytvoření plánu dlouhodobého cashflow sestaveného nepřímou metodou ve společnosti Inekon Systems a následné sledování odchylek vůči skutečným peněžním tokům. Krom potřeby z hlediska výše popsaných důvodů je dalším důvodem pro vytvoření nového řešení jeho současná absence v dané společnosti a důraz nové mateřské společnosti ABRA Software a.s. na zkvalitnění plánovacího procesu a reportingu. Pro zajištění korektní implementace daného řešení je rovněž nutným předpokladem zajistit pravidelný přísun finančních dat ze systému ABRA Gen. Ten na české pobočce řešené společnosti nahradil současný ERP systém WAM S/3 a jeho nasazení proběhlo na začátku roku 2023. V kontextu celého řešení se tedy jedná o standardní metodiku Business Inteligence, kdy je nutné data ze systému ABRA Gen integrovat do datového skladu a s využitím historických dat ze systému WAM S/3 připravit kompletní datovou základnu pro analytické služby Microsoft SQL serveru a na to navazující aplikaci implementovanou v systému BNS.

Abstract:

The economic environment is becoming increasingly unstable. Due to the pandemic and war conflicts, many companies have run into minor or major financial problems in last years, and some of them had to close their business for these reasons. In order to react more quickly to the adverse effects of the external and internal environment of the company, more and more companies are starting up to invest in tools to support financial performance management. These tools provide mechanisms for faster and more efficient planning and subsequent monitoring of deviations between created plan and reality. Based on these documents, the company's management considers the most suitable options for further strategic, tactical and operational steps. Most companies are only focused on planning and monitoring costs and incomes, usually in the form of a statement oriented to the needs of the company, known as a management income statement. However, some companies do not monitor the movement of funds, which is usually the reason why the company is forced to close down its activities. The rule is that companies do not close because of low or negative profits, but because of a lack of funds. This thesis is mainly oriented on the area of this problem. The goal of this thesis is design and implementation of an analytical and planning application in the BNS (Business Navigation System) to enable the creation of a long-term cashflow plan compiled by the indirect method at Inekon Systems and subsequent monitoring of deviations between planned and actual cash flow. Except of needs described above, another reasons for creating a new solution is its current absence in the company and emphasis of the new parent company ABRA Software a.s. to improve the quality of the planning process and reporting. In order to achieve targets of implemented solution it is also necessary to provide access to financial data from the ABRA Gen system. This system replaced the current WAM S/3 ERP system at the Czech branch of the company, and its deployment took place at the beginning of 2023. In the context of the entire solution, this thesis is based on standard Business Intelligence methodology, where it is necessary to integrate data from the ABRA Gen system into the data warehouse and with using of historical data from the WAM S/3 system prepare a complete database for analytical services based on Microsoft SQL server and a subsequent application implemented in the BNS system.
