New modern structured products and their applications

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje problematice moderních strukturovaných investičních produktů, mezi něž řadíme investiční certifikáty, warranty a strukturované dluhopisy, a jejich využití. Jejím cílem je ukázat, že tyto produkty mohou efektivně nahradit tzv. klasické investiční instrumenty. V úvodu jsou představeny základní vlastnosti, výhody a rizika těchto produktů, následuje pasáž věnovaná rozsáhlé segmentaci trhu s těmito produkty podle různých kriterií, například podle jejich typu, druhu podkladového aktiva nebo délky doby splatnosti. Po analýze investorů a jejich strategií je následně zkoumáno využití strukturovaných produktů a jejich vhodnost pro jednotlivé skupiny investorů. Závěrečná praktická část analyzuje možnosti nákupu a prodeje těchto produktů a naznačuje uplatnění jednotlivých produktů pomocí vzorových portfolií.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with problems of modern structured investment products which include investment certificates, warrants and structured bonds and their application. Main goal of the thesis is to show that these products are capable of effective substituting classic investment products. Basic characteristics, advantages and risks of these products are introduced in the beginning of the thesis. This part is followed by a wide-ranging segmentation of the market of structured products. The segmentation is carried out in accordance with different parameters, e.g. by type of the product, by underlying or by term of expiration. Then there is an analysis of the different investors and their strategies followed by an analysis of the application of modern structured products and their usability for different investor groups. Final part of the thesis analyzes possibilities of buys and sells and shows usage of particular products by creating example portfolios.
