Jakub Jan Ryba Instrumental Style Focusing on Orchestral Works

Abstract:

Předmětem disertační práce byla instrumentální hudba českého kantora a skladatele Jakuba Jana Ryby se zaměřením na hudbu orchestrální, která je odborné veřejnosti prakticky neznámá. Pro tento účel byly vybrány čtyři významné skladby autora Symphonia in C Major, Kasace C dur, Concerto pour le Violoncello a Un grand Concert pour Violon principal. Symfonii a oba koncerty bylo nutné spartovat. Jednou z hlavních částí disertace jsou spartace těchto tří děl, které tvoří objemný svazek příloh. Disertace zprostředkovává tato díla v moderní notační podobě. Další částí disertace jsou podrobné analýzy všech čtyř děl. Na základě těchto analýz bylo možné vyvodit závěry o stylu orchestrálních skladeb Jakuba Jana Ryby především v oblasti instrumentace a hudebních forem. Bylo poukázáno i na jeho tvorbu hudebně teoretickou a estetickou, pedagogickou praxi a na kontext českých kantorů a skladatelů období klasicismu.

Abstract:

The dissertation deals with the instrumental music by Czech cantor (teatcher and regenschori) and composer Jakub Jan Ryba with a focus on orchestral music, which is practically unknown to the professional public. Four important pieces Symphonia in C Major, Cassation in C major, Concerto pour le Violoncello and Un grand Concert pour Violon principal were selected for this purpose. The symphony and both concerts had to be transcribed. One of the main parts of the dissertation is the transcription of these three works, which form a voluminous volume of supplements. The dissertation mediates these works in a modern notation form. Another part of the thesis is a detailed analysis of all four works. On the basis of these analyzes, it was possible to draw conclusions about the style of orchestral compositions by Jakub Jan Ryba primarily in the field of instrumentation and musical forms. There was also mentioned his work on music theory and aesthetics, pedagogical practice and the context of Czech cantors and classical composers.
