The Facebook profile as a platform for emotional expression. Linguistic analysis of status updates

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the expression of emotions through language in the Social Network Facebook and presents a linguistic analysis of user status updates. The theoretical part sketches Facebook, the functions and possibilities of Facebook. Moreover, it focuses on the linguistic expression of emotions. The practical part dwells upon the analysis of linguistic structures which are used in the status updates. The practical part presents the results of user status updates and the differences between the ways in which users express emotions. At last the differences between the Czech and German corpora will be showed.

Abstract:

Diese Bachelorarbeit untersucht Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten von Emotionen in dem sozialen Netzwerk Facebook und befasst sich mit der sprachwissenschaftlichen Analyse von Statusaktualisierungen, welche sich entweder als positive oder negative bezeichnen lassen. Der theoretische Teil der Arbeit bringt Facebook und seine Funktionen, sowie Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten von Emotionen näher. Der Praktische Teil befasst sich mit einzelnen Statusmeldungen, vergleicht sie und interpretiert, welche Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten in einzelnen Kategorien am häufigsten verwendet wurden. Zum Ende dieser Arbeit wird ein Vergleich zwischen deutschen und tschechischen Statusaktualisierungen dargeboten.
