Aspects of chat communication

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá otázkami virtuální kominukace. Využívá vybraných termínů z pragnatiky a konverzační analýzy. Je rozdělena do dvou částí - teoretické a praktické. V první části se snažíme o popis fungovaní jednotlivých služeb internetu sloužících ke komunikaci, zaměřili jsme se na komunikaci v reálném čase (chat). Zajímal nás samotný komunikační proces: zahájení, udržování a ukončovaní komunikačního kanálu. V každodenní komunikaci jsou tyto akty spojeny s celou řadou jazykových rituálů. Snažili jsme se o nalezení určitých paralel v chatové komunitě. V neposlední řadě jsme studovali chování uživatelů v podmínkách virtuální reality, zejména: dominanci, hádky, komplimenty a jiné.

Abstract:

The work concerns some aspects of virtual communication. We have based its elaboration on the fields of pragmatic linguistics and conversation analysis. It is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first one, we try to describe the functioning of several Internet communication services, although we rather focus on the real-time communication (chat). We are interested in the structure of the communicative process itself: the start, development and close of the communication channel. In daily conversation, these acts are connected to specific language rituals. We intend to establish some parallelisms with them in the chat community. Finally, we study the behavior of users through mechanisms such as quarrels, compliments, interruptions, and the usual human conduct under conditions of anonymity.
