Teaching the topic of racism and xenophobia in the subject of civic education at the 2nd grade of elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou výuky zaměřené na problematiku spojenou s rasismem a xenofobií v občanské výchově na 2. stupni základní školy. Cílem práce je vytvoření souboru pracovních listů a metodik, jejichž prostřednictvím by byla žákům zprostředkována témata související s problematikou rasismu a xenofobií. Diplomová práce obsahuje pět pracovních listů, které reflektují následující témata - Osobní identita, Kulturní diference, Rasismus a xenofobie, Boj proti rasismu a xenofobii a Multikulturalismus. Ke každému pracovnímu listu náleží metodika, která popisuje způsob práce s pracovním listem ve výuce. Důraz je při tom kladen na rozvoj klíčových kompetencí, díky kterým by byli žáci schopni rozpoznat projevy rasismu a xenofobie a postavit se proti nim.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of teaching focused on the teaching of issues related to racism and xenophobia in civic education at the 2nd grade of elementary school. The aim of the thesis is to create a set of worksheets and methodologies, through which topics related to the issue of racism and xenophobia would be conveyed to students. The diploma thesis contains five worksheets that reflect the following topics - Personal identity, Cultural differences, Racism and xenophobia, The fight against racism and xenophobia, and Multiculturalism. Each worksheet includes a methodology that describes how to work with the worksheet in class. Emphasis is placed on the development of key competences, thanks to which pupils would be able to recognize manifestations of racism and xenophobia and oppose them.
