Pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum superstitions, myths and rituals

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá pověrami, mýty a rituály spjatými s těhotenstvím, porodem a šestinedělím. Cílem práce je zmapovat, jaké pověry a mýty jsou dnes rozšířeny mezi ženami, které se pohybují na internetových diskusních fórech a skupinách zaměřených na mateřství. Dále bych chtěla zjistit, zda a kde si tyto ženy ověřují informace. Práce sestává z teoretické a praktické části. V teoretické části se zabývám rolí pověr a rituálů ve společnosti, historií porodní asistence a porodnictví a pověrami, mýty a rituály z historických pramenů. V praktické části analyzuji výsledky dotazníkového šetření.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with superstitions, myths and rituals associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium. The goal of this thesis is to chart what superstitions and myths are widespread today among members of discussion forums and online motherhood groups. I would also like to determine if and where these women verify information. In the theoretical part I deal with the role of superstitions and rituals in society, the history of midwifery and obstetrics and superstitions, myths, and rituals from historical sources. In the practical part I analyse the results of the questionnaire survey.
