Economic, social and environmental impact of building and functioning of the nuclear power plants Temelín on Southern Bohemia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá doposud ne zcela probádaným problémem: Kolik Jaderná elektrárna Temelín dala a kolik vzala Jihočeskému kraji. Co přinesla největší česká elektrárna regionu, který je nejřidčeji osídlen a který takové množství energie vůbec nepotřebuje? Tyto dopady popisuje na demografickém vývoji v okolních obcích, na rozvoji nejbližších obcí a měst, na zaměstnanosti, na mzdovém vývoji, na cenách nemovitostí a také na změnách v cestovním ruchu. U všech těchto ukazatelů práce dělí fenomén Temelína do dvou základních etap: výstavba a provoz. Práce také popisuje, jak dopady na region ovlivňovalo politické uspořádání: zatímco na konci 80. let v komunistické éře muselo jaderné elektrárně ustoupit šest obcí, ty ostatní, co přežily, se v demokratických poměrech těší z finančních kompenzací od energetické firmy ČEZ.

Abstract:

The main object of the thesis is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of the presence of the Atomic Power Station Temelin within the Region of South-Bohemia. This area has rarely been looked thoroughly upon. The main question is: What is the benefit of the largest power station in the Czech Republic to a such sparsely populated area - which obviously doesnt need the energy. The thesis analyses the impact of the presence of the power station on the demographic changes of the surrounding villages, the development of the villages and towns near by, employment, salary changes, shifts on a property market and tourism. All those indicators above are studied both during and after the construction of Temelin. The thesis also considers the impact of the political changes upon the region. Whereas in the 80th, during the communist regime, six villages have been demolished due to the construction of Temelin, the democratic changes of the 90th have brought wast financial compensations by the CEZ company to the remaining villages.
