Influence of a geometric sample on the accuracy of measuring the electrical properties of thin-film transparent conductive oxides

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na zkoumání vlivu geometrie vzorku na naměřené hodnoty rezistivity a koncentrace nosičů náboje u tenkých vrstev transparentních vodivých oxidů. Rozdílné geometrie jsou zkoumány na dvou transparentních vodivých oxidech (oxid zinečnatý dopovaný hliníkem, AZO), jenž byly připravovány za různých podmínek depozice. K měření jejich elektrických vlastností byly použity van der Pauwova metoda a čtyřbodová metoda. Čtvercové vzorky byly upraveny pomocí diamantové tužky s cílem připravit geometrii nazývanou řecký kříž a disk. Měřením jsme zjistili, že nejlepší preciznosti hodnot koncentrace nosičů náboje námi měřených geometrií dosahuje u van der Pauwovy metody ideální čtvercový rozměr 8,5 x 8,5 mm, který má velkou délku vrypu, ale vryp ještě nenarušuje strukturu transparentní vodivé vrstvy ve středu vzorku. Z výsledků při měřeni van der Pauwovy metody také vidíme, že se zvětšující se délkou vrypu se zvětšuje naměřená hodnota pro rezistivitu. Hodnoty rezistivity získané oběma metodami se shodují.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is focused on the investigation of the influence of the sample geometry on the measured values of resistivity and concentration of charge carriers in thin layers of transparent conductive oxides. Different geometries are investigated on two transparent conductive oxides (aluminium-doped zinc oxide, AZO), which were prepared under different deposition conditions. The van der Pauw method and the four-point method were used to measure their electrical properties. The square samples were treated with a diamond pencil to prepare a geometry called a Greek cross and a disk. By experimental measurements, we found that the best precision values of the concentration of charge carriers from the geometries measured by us were obtained by the van der Pauw method using a square sample with dimensions of 8.5 x 8.5 mm, which has a large scratch length, but the scratch does not disturb the structure of the transparent conductive layer in the center of the sample. From the results of the measurement of the van der Pauw method, we also see that as the length of the scratch increases, the measured value for resistivity increases. The resistivity values obtained by both methods are the same.
