Parallels of Experimental and Immersive Theater in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor’s thesis is to find or dispute parallels between two theater forms of experimental and immersive theater with reference to authors theater as was defined by prof. Josef Kovalčuk and prof. Jan Vedral. It focuses on selected theater ensembles from Slovakia and Czechia and one director as the representants of alternative and experimental scene. The part of the thesis is also subjective analysis of theater performance, which I personally took part in. The thesis is also based on expert literature covering problems of authors, experimental and immersive theater, its inner structure and creation process. The bachelor’s thesis has no ambition to become a theatrological tractate, but rather be a sound looking for similarities and differences between distinctive forms of independent theater scene.

Abstract:

Cieľom bakalárskej práce je nájsť prípadne vyvrátiť paralely dvoch divadelných foriem experimentálneho a imerzného divadla s odkazom na autorskú formu divadla, ako ho definoval prof. Josef Kovalčuk a prof. Ján Vedral. Zameria sa na vybrané divadelné súbory zo Slovenska a Česka a jedného režiséra, ako predstaviteľov alternatívnej a experimentálnej scény. Súčasťou práce bude i subjektívna analýza predstavenia, ktorého som sa sama aktívne zúčastnila. Práca sa zároveň opiera o doterajšiu odbornú literatúru venujúcu sa problematike autorského, experimentálneho a imerzného divadla, jeho vnútornej štruktúry a procesu tvorby. Bakalárska práca nemá ambíciu stať sa teatrologickým traktátom, ale sondou hľadajúcou väzby, prípadne rozdiely medzi osobitými formami nezávislej divadelnej scény.
