The Black Death and its Influence on the English Society

Abstract:
Práce se zabývá morovou ranou - tzv. "černou smrtí", která zasáhla Anglii ve 14. století. Podrobně rozebírá příčiny vzniku moru a dále socioekonomické a kulturní změny, kterým byla společnost nucena čelit. V závěru je černá smrt porovnána s pozdější nákazou ze 17. století v Londýně, zobrazenou v díle Daniela Defoa.
Abstract:
This bachelor paper deals with the influence that 14th century plague - the "Black Death" had on medieval English society. Attention is especially given to lifestyle, hygiene customs and changes in socio-economic and cultural spheres. The Black Death is compared with the plague that surged in London in 1665 and it is supported by examples from Daniel Defoe`s Journal of the Plague Year.
