Abstract:

This thesis explores segregation in Mamie Martin Elementary School in Brookhaven in Mississippi. The separation between African American and white students is created through the preferences of the students and the parental choice. Mamie Martin Elementary School, which allows segregation after 60 years of its ban, is one of the most popular elementary schools in Brookhaven district.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá segregací na základní škole Mamie Martin v Brookhaven v Mississippi. Separace Afro-Amerických studentů od bílých studentů probíhá skrze rodičovskou volbu a samotné preference studentů. Mamie Martin základní škola, která i přes 60 let starý zákaz povoluje segregaci, je jedna z nejpopulárnějších základních škol v oblasti Brookhaven.
