Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na kompozice, které Samuel Barber složil v průběhu 20. století. Zabýval se námětovou složkou Medey. Inspiroval se dílem antického autora Euripida. Celý text práce je rozdělen na čtyři části. První z nich pojednává o životě a osobnosti Samuela Barbera. Ve druhé části je antická postava Medey představovaná z různých úhlů pohledu. Třetí část je věnována této postavě, která byla skladatelovou neustálou inspirací, a proto ji opětovně používal. Poslední část práce je zaměřena na sémantickou analýzu námětu. Pozornost byla soustředěna nejen na hlavní hrdinku, ale i na výklad jednotlivých symbolů, které zosobňuje. Cílem práce bylo předložit zjištění, zda se Samuelu Barberovi podařilo najít shodné prvky s Euripidovou předlohou.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on works composed by author Samuel Barber in the 20th century. He deals with the thematically component of Medea which was prepared according to the ancient author Euripides. The entire text of composition is divided into four sections. The first one deals with the life and personality of Samuel Barbera. The second part is about ancient figure of Medea presented from different perspectives. The third part is devoted to this character, which was the composer's constant inspiration, so he used it repeatedly. The last part is devoted to the semantic analysis of the subject. Attention was focused not only on the main character, but also on the interpretation of the symbols, which personifies. The aim of the thesis was to determine whether Samuel Barber managed to find similarities with the Euripides original.
