The present of Moravian museum and gallery libraries: Tools and procedures for maintaining relevance

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje specializovaným muzejním a galerijním knihovnám a fenoménu udržení relevance v 21. století. V teoretické části práce vymezuje relevantní pojmy spojené s paměťovými institucemi a představuje odborné muzejní a galerijní knihovny. Dále práce v teoretické části popisuje fungování Asociace muzeí a galerií v České republice a představuje Knihovnickou komisi asociace. Práce představuje Jihomoravské specializované knihovny muzeí a galerií a přináší vhledy do témat modernizace a udržení relevantnosti těchto institucí v dnešní době za pomoci různých nástrojů (digitalizace, propagace v digitálním prostředí, digitální humanitní vědy atd.). Praktická část práce zahrnuje dotazníkové šetření, které proběhlo v daných institucích a dále pracuje s polostrukturovaným rozhovorem, který byl pro účely této práce pořízen s knihovníky specializovaných muzejních nebo galerijních knihoven.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is dedicated to specialized museum and gallery libraries and the phenomenon of maintaining relevance in the 21st century. The theoretical part of the work defines relevant terms associated with memory institutions and presents specalized museum and gallery libraries as a whole. Furthermore, in the theoretical part, the work describes the functioning of the Association of Museums and Galleries in the Czech Republic and presents the Library Committee of the association. The thesis presents the South Moravian specialized libraries of museums and galleries and brings insights into the topics of modernization and maintaining the relevance of these institutions today with the help of various tools (digitization, promotion in a digital environment, digital humanities etc.). The practical part of the work includes a questionnaire survey that took place in the given institutions and further works with a semi-structured interview, which was conducted, for the purposes of this work, with librarians of specialized museum or gallery libraries.
