Economic impacts of mass immigration to the Member States of the European Union in the period 2007–2018

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje ekonomické dopady masové imigrace do zemíEvropské unie. Teoretická část popisuje ekonomické teorie související s masovouimigrací a dále porovnává teorie příčin vzniku migrační krize a různé imigrační politiky,které mohou cílové země uplatňovat ve snaze zamezit negativním dopadům imigrace.Mimo jiné teoretická část komparuje sledovanou migrační vlnu s migračními vlnami,které proběhly v minulosti. Oproti většině jiných publikací zkoumajících masovouimigraci do zemí Evropské unie se obě části práce často opírají o teoretické východiskoRoyova modelu, které rozlišuje pozitivní a negativní migrační toky. Praktická část prácezkoumá ekonomické dopady masové imigrace především v oblasti trhů práce a sociálníchsystémů evropských zemí. V porovnání s velikostí rizik a nákladů masové imigraceshledala práce pouze nepatrné množství výnosů. Výsledky práce potvrzují hypotézuvyřčenou prezidentem Václavem Klausem, že masová imigrace do Evropy představujepro členské země EU fatální hrozbu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis analyzes economic impacts of mass immigration to European Union countries. The theoretical part describes economic theories related to mass immigration and further compares theories of causes of the migration crisis and various immigration policies that governments of target countries can apply in the effort to prevent the negative effects of immigration. The theoretical part also compares the observed migration wave with migration waves that occured in the past. Unlike most other publications examining mass immigration to European Union countries, both parts of the thesis often rely on the theoretical basis of Roy's model, which distinguishes between positive and negative migration flows. The practical part evaluates economic impacts of mass immigration by examining the labor markets and social systems of European countries. Compared to the size of mentioned risks and costs of mass immigration, the thesis has found only a few benefits. Results of the thesis confirm the hypothesis stated by President Vaclav Klaus that mass immigration to Europe poses a fatal threat to the EU Member States.
