The Jindrich Chalupecky Award in Context

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje Ceně Jindřicha Chalupeckého, nejvýznamnějšímu českému ocenění pro mladé výtvarné umělce do 35 let s třicetiletou tradicí. Zrekapitulovány jsou zde širší souvislosti jejího vzniku, její historický vývoj a původní i současné cíle pořádající instituce ? Společnosti Jindřicha Chalupeckého. Cena je zasazena do kontextu dalších uměleckých ocenění v České republice i v zahraničí. Zásadní část textu je věnována vývoji Společnosti Jindřicha Chalupeckého v posledních pěti letech, kdy se změnilo vedení organizace a realizační tým, kterého je pisatelka této práce součástí od roku 2017. Stěžejní částí diplomové práce tvoří také reflexe relevance CJCh vůči očekáváním a potřebám mladým umělkyním a umělcům, jejichž činnost by měla stimulovat a podporovat. Závěry vychází z dvaceti unikátních rozhovorů s bývalými i současnými organizátory Ceny, finalistkami a finalisty, laureátkami a laureáty CJCh, které autorka práce realizovala v rámci výzkumu vedeného pro potřeby této práce. Rozhovory jakožto primární zdroj informací jsou k dispozici v podobě přepisů v sekci příloh.

Abstract:

The thesis is dedicated to the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, the most important Czech award for young artists under 35 years of age with a thirty-year tradition. The wider context of its origin, its historical development and the original and present objectives of the organizing institution ? the Jindřich Chalupecký Society ? are recapitulated here. The Award is set in the context of other artistic awards in the Czech Republic and abroad. A crucial part of the text is devoted to the development of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society in the last five years, when the management of the organization and the implementation team, of which the author of this thesis has been a part since 2017, have changed. A central part of the thesis is also a reflection on the relevance of JCHA to the young artists whose activities it should stimulate and support. The conclusions are based on twenty unique interviews with former and current organizers of the Award, finalists and laureates of JCHA, which was carried out in the framework of research conducted for purposes of this thesis by its author. Interviews as the primary source of information are available in the form of transcripts in the annexes section.
