The developement of the ARPANET

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce informuje o důležitých událostech ve vývoji ARPANETu, hodnotí jeho význam pro počítačovou komunikaci a životní styl člověka. Projekt k vytvoření ARPANETu vznikl v šedesátých letech, byl organizován agenturou ARPA Ministerstva obrany USA. Síť spuštěná v říjnu 1969 byla koncipována jako packet-switched network, s přepojováním bloků dat - paketů. Provoz ARPANETu se nejprve řídil pravidly protokolu NCP, později pravidly protokolu TCP/IP. Za účelem uspořádání domén byl pro ARPANET vytvořen systém domén DNS. Od roku 1983 po organizační změně se vžil název Internet. Rozrůstající se síť sloužila nejprve vědecko-výzkumným účelům. Počátkem devadesátých let byl uveden do praxe systém odkazů a prohlížeče WWW. Původní ARPANET byl odpojen v roce 1990. Internet se dále rozrůstal a začal sloužit též komerčním účelům. Postupně se rozšířil do podniků, organizací a nakonec mezi běžné uživatele. Rozdílnost podmínek v různých zemích světa vyžaduje zaměření služeb Internetu na potřeby uživatelů podle jejich geografické pozice. Síť je spravována neziskovými organizacemi. Původní myšlenka svobodné sítě bez hranic je modifikována právními řády států, v nichž žijí poskytovatelé služeb i jejich konzumenti. Široká škála možností v oblasti poskytování informací, vzdělávání, komunikačních prostředků, her a jiné zábavy dává lidem mnoho pozitivního. Je však třeba, aby lidé v práci i doma využívali Internet bezpečným způsobem a nedali příležitost těm, kteří by chtěli služeb sítě zneužívat.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis informes about main events in the developement of ARPANET, evaluates its significance for computer communications and lifestyle of modern people. The project for creation of the ARPANET rised tn the sixtieths, it was organised by the ARPA company, which had been operating under the US Departement of Defebse. The network, which was started in September 1969, was drafted as packet-switched network. This network had been switching blocks of data - packets. Operations of ARPANET were at first abided by rules of NCP protocol, later by rules of TCP/IP protocol. The domain name system DNS was created for ARPANET because of need to order the domains. Since 1983, after the organizational change, ARPANET started to be called Internet. The network which expanded through USA served at first for research purposes. The system of hypertext links and WWW browsers came out to the praxis at the begining of ninetieths. The original ARPANET was disconnected in 1990. Internet had been expanding and also started to serve for commercial purposes. It was gradualy spreading to concernes, organizations and eventually to common computer users. The distincness of conditions in different countries of the world needs to sight Internet services on what users need in relation to their location. The network is administrated by nonprofit organizations. Original idea of independent network without frontiers if modified by juristic specifikations of countries, where lives the Internet providers and their consumers. Large scala of possibilities in area of information afford, education, communication, games and other entertainment gives to the mankind a lot of positive. But people at work or at home should use Internet in a safe manner and give no occasion to those, who would like to abuse the network services.
