Wedding Habits and Superstitions in Municipal Area

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá podobou současného stavu udržované svatební tradice ve městě Brně. Výzkum provedený za účelem této práce sleduje jednotlivé svatební zvyky, které se manželé rozhodli praktikovat v jejich svatební den a také, jestli se řídili pověrami mající vztah ke svatbě. Sledovány jsou motivace aktérů svatby, z jakých důvodů jednotlivé zvyky a pověry praktikovali, a z jakého informačního prostředí měli o úkonech povědomí. Do výzkumu jsou zahrnuty církevní i civilní sňatky manželů české národnosti, které se uskutečnily v rozmezí let od roku 2009 do roku 2014.

Abstract:

Master diploma thesis deals with the condition of present state of preserved wedding tradition in the town of Brno. The research done for the purpose of this work is following individual wedding habits which married couples decided to perform on their wedding day; and also if they acted according to wedding-based superstitions. Motivation of wedding participants is followed; what reasons led them to complying with individual habits and superstitions, and what kind of informative background resulted in their knowledge of these acts. The research covers church as well as civil weddings of couples of the Czech nationality performed between the years of 2009 and 2014.
