"I have a dream" speech as a symbol of struggle against segregation

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis entitled ‘I Have a Dream’ Speech as One of the Symbols of Struggle against Segregation; firstly, briefly introduces the burdensome conditions of the African Americans living in the USA during the last century (before they decided to rise up and fight for justice); describes the beginnings of the African American Civil Rights Movement, and then it delineates some of the most important events of 1963 preceding the delivery of Martin Luther King’s famous I Have a Dream speech. With this introductory lead-in into the atmosphere of those times, and with a better understanding: what the African Americans were fighting against and hoping for; the thesis tries to explore the message of the speech itself. First, as a symbol of guidelines for people whose rights are denied; and second, as a symbol of hopes for better future and freedom for everyone.
