The impact of immigration on French political system and it's behaviour in the international relations

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá dopadem imigrace na francouzský politický systém, jeho vývoj a změny uvnitř systému, jako i v rámci mezinárodních vztahů. Na historickém vývoji domácí i zahraniční politiky je analyzováno, zda imigrace slouží jako primární faktor určující směr tohoto vývoje – do jaké míry je postupné utváření francouzské politiky chápatelné jako reakce na průběh migrace od konce druhé světové války. Práce vychází z primárních pramenů a odborných textů a snaží se pomocí analýzy těchto pramenů na historickém průřezu zachytit nejdůležitější období spojená s vývojem migračního fenoménu v druhé polovině 20. století a zhodnotit dopad nejdůležitějších událostí (např. alžírská krize, ropné šoky, říjnové nepokoje) na francouzskou společnost. Prostor je věnován i zamyšlení nad budoucím vývojem imigrační politiky. Analýza dochází k závěru, že v průběhu druhé poloviny 20. století imigrace převážně na domácí scéně nabyla na významu, díky zpomalení ekonomického rozvoje Francie, výraznému nárůstu imigrantů a jejich často nepodařenému začlenění do společnosti. Posouzení mezinárodní scény je poněkud komplikovanější – práce se pokouší na případě bilaterálních vztahů s Marokem a Alžírskem dokázat, že dopad imigrace na tyto vztahy nelze posuzovat samostatně, jelikož je zasazena v širším rámci mezinárodních relací.

Abstract:

This BA diploma focuses on the impact of immigration upon the french political system, it’s development and changes within the system as well as within the international relations. By looking at the development of domestic and foreign policy throughout the modern history, this thesis analyses, wether immigration functions as the primary factor shaping the course of this progress – to what extent can the development of french politics be understood as reaction to the evolution of immigration question from the end of World War 2 until today. The study reflects primary and secondary resources and by analysing these texts (by application on the history) tries to define the most important stages during the migratory development within 20th century and evaluate the impact of the most important circumstances (e.g. algerian crisis, oil shocks, october riots) on the french society.However, the possible future development of imigration politics is also described. Analysis comes to the conclusion that during the second half of 20th century, immigration, mainly on the domestic scene, has gained new level of significance, because of deceleration of french economic progress, distinctive increase in amount of immigrants entering the state and usual fails in integration of these migrants. However, the evaluation of international arena is much more complicated – the thesis tries to prove, on the example of french bilateral relations with Marocco and Algeria, that the impact of immigration can not be separated from all the aspects of international relations.
