Epilepsy from the point of view of a nutritional therapy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá stručnou charakteristikou epilepsie. V dané problematice jsme se zabývali možnostmi léčby různých forem epilepsie, především pomocí výživy a speciálních diet. Podali jsme stručný historický přehled až po současnost. Dále jsme vysvětlili patofyziologický mechanismus rozvoje epilepsie a objasnili prospěch i rizika těchto dietních přístupů. Uvedli jsme konkrétní příklady plánování diety, např. výpočet jednotlivých živin, ukázky vhodných receptur a potravin. Také jsme rozebrali práci nutričního terapeuta s pacientem, který začíná dodržovat ketogenní dietu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with a brief description of epilepsy. In this area, we dealt with the possibilities of treatment of various forms of epilepsy, especially through nutrition and special diets. We have given a brief historical overview up to the pre-sent. We also explained the pathophysiological mechanism of epilepsy development and clarified the benefits and risks of these dietary approaches. We gave specific examples of diet planning, such as the calculation of individual nutrients, examples of suitable recipes and foods. We also discussed the work of a nutritional therapist with a patient who is beginning to follow a ketogenic diet.
