Comparison between physical therapy and manual therapy protocols for the rehabilitation of patellar tendinopathy: case report

Abstract:

In this thesis, two clinical cases of patellar tendinopathy in the right knee are examined. The first case, an amateur and hard-working hockey player, arrived in the studio in an acute phase; the second case, a professional footballer, went to the office with anterior knee pain. Both players are treated both with physical therapy (Laser and Tecar) and with manual therapy (Stretching, muscle strengthening, proprioception, massage therapy and myofibrolysis) supported at a psychophysical level and directed to continuous work in the structure and at home. The importance of both manual and physical therapy is confirmed by the two cases taken into exam, but it's clear that also the trust between patient and therapist is essential for the rehabilitation success.

Abstract:

In questa tesi vengono presi in esame due casi clinici di tendinopatia rotulea al ginocchio destro. Il primo caso, giocatore di hockey dilettante e lavoratore, giunto in studio in fase acuta; il secondo caso, calciatore professionista, recatosi in studio con dolore anteriore al ginocchio. Entrambi i giocatori, vengono trattati sia con terapia fisica (Laser e Tecar) sia con terapia manuale (Stretching, rinforzo muscolare, propriocezione, massoterapia e miofibrolisi) supportati a livello psicofisico ed indirizzati ad un lavoro continuativo in struttura ed a casa. I due casi presi in esame, confermano l'importanza della terapia manuale abbinata alla terapia fisica, ma mettono anche in luce come la fiducia del paziente verso il terapeuta sia fondamentale per la buona riuscita della riabilitazione.
