Creative Accounting, fraud management and techniques "management for results".

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá kreativním účetnictvím a podvody v účetnictví. Mezi hlavní cíle patří vymezení základních pojmů, důvody praktikování a jeho samotné techniky. Dále jsou zde popsány jednotlivé mezinárodní účetnictví standardy IAS/IFRS a US GAAP a s tím související snaha o jejich harmonizaci. České účetní legislativě je věnována samostatná kapitola. Další důležité téma jsou samotné podvody, kde jsou uvedeni pachatelé, určité příklady podvodů, ale také hodnocení rizik. V práci je také vymezena určitá prevence proti kreativnímu účetnictví. Praktická část se soustřeďuje nejprve na velké kauzy spojené s tímto tématem, jako je Enron a Parmalat. Dále se zpracovává komparací systémů ČÚL, IAS/IFRS a US GAAP. Poslední kapitolou praktické části je vyhodnocení výzkumu věnovanému znalosti kreativního účetnictví mezi studenty ekonomické fakulty Západočeské univerzity. Toto téma jsem si zvolila zejména proto, že kreativní účetnictví je rozsáhlá a zajímavá oblast, které zatím nebyla věnována dostatečná pozornost, přestože je využívána mnohými společnostmi.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis discusses the issue of creative accounting and frauds in accounting. As the main goal there is the definition of basic terms, the reasons of implementation and the techniques of it itself. The various international accounting standards IAS/IFRS a US GAAP are described in the thesis as well and the harmonization effort, which is closely connected with it. A separate chapter is dedicated to the Czech accounting legislation. As another relevant topic there are frauds themselves listed altogether with perpetrators, specific examples of frauds, and also the risk assessment. In the thesis there is defined the certain precaution against the creative accounting. Practical part focuses at first on major cases connected with this topic, such as Enron and Parmalat. In the thesis there is also discussed the comparison of US GAAP and IAS/IFRS systems. In the last chapter of the practical part there is the evaluation of research devoted to the knowledge of the creative accounting among students of the Faculty of Economics at the University of West Bohemia. The main reason I decided for this topic is that the creative accounting is a vast and attractive area which has not been discussed yet enough, even though it's used by a lot of companies.
