Abstract:
Bakalářská práce zkoumá diachronní vývoj anglického modálního slovesa CAN s ohledem na jeho větnou stavbu a významové zvláštnosti. Praktická část je vyvozena ze dvou částečně protichůdných tvrzení předních historických lingvistů zabývajících se vývojem modálních sloves. The primary concern of this bachelor thesis is the diachronic, syntactico-semantic development of the English modal verb CAN. The practical part is based on two partially contradictory viewpoints of renowned historical linguists researching the development of modals.
