A theoretical part of this thesis deals with the fatherhood with specific focus on the fathers on parental leave as the highest form of new fatherhood. Based on the Czech and foreign researches, it provides the characteristics of fathers on parental leave, the changes in the family roles arrangement, as well as the positive and negative impact of this settlement on the family. Teoretická časť práce sa zaoberá otcovstvom so špecifickým zameraním na otcov na rodičovskej dovolenke ako na najvyššiu formu angažovaného otcovstva. Na základe českých i zahraničných výskumov približuje charakteristiku otca na rodičovskej dovolenke, zmeny v usporiadaní rodinných rolí, ako aj pozitívne a negatívne dopady takéhoto usporiadania na rodinu.
