Effects of interventions against school bullying: a systematic review of qualitative literature

Abstract:

Kvalitatívnej literatúra v rámci témy školskej šikany je čoraz viac. Zároveň boli vyvinuté aj intervencie, ktorých cieľom je problém šikany adresovať, a literatúra hodnotiaca efektivitu týchto intervencií taktiež narastá. Cieľom tejto diplomovej práce bolo poskytnúť systematický prehľad a analyzovať kvalitatívne štúdie skúmajúce efekty intervencií. Za týmto účelom bola vyvinutá procedúra vyhľadávania, ktorej súčasťou bol súbor kritérií na selektovanie vyhľadaných štúdií. Zistenia vyselektovaných študií z nich boli následne vyextrahované s použitím tých istých kritérií. Dokopy 12 štúdií bolo vybraných do tohto prehľadu. Na základe rámcovej štruktúry vyvinutej podľa dostupných teoretických vedomostí o školskej šikanie, v kombinácii s induktívnym prístupom zakoreneným v extrahovaných dátach bola zostavená kódovacia schéma, ktorá bola následne použitá na okódovanie daných zistení. Niektoré kódy boli častejšie zastúpené ako iné. V diskusnej časti je o výsledkoch procesu kódovania vedená úvaha v rámci širšieho kontextu intervenčnej literatúry a literatúry o šikane. Sú spomenuté limitácie práce ako takej.

Abstract:

There has been a gradual expansion of qualitative literature on the topic of school bullying. At the same time, interventions have been developed to tackle it, and the literature assessing the effectiveness of these interventions has grown as well. The aim of this thesis was to review and analyze qualitative studies evaluating the effects of interventions. For this purpose, a search procedure was developed, along with a set of criteria for inclusion and exclusion of studies for this review. Findings from the selected studies were then extracted from them using the same criteria. A total of 12 studies were included in this review. Based on a framework developed from the available theoretical knowledge about school bullying, combined with an inductive approach rooted in the extracted data, a coding scheme was set up, which was subsequently used to code the findings. Some codes were more frequently represented than others. Results of the coding procedure are elaborated upon within the broader context in the discussion section. Limitations to the present thesis are mentioned.
