Job analysis of two positions in a medium-sized Czech company

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je seznámit čtenáře s klíčovými myšlenkami analýzy práce a poskytnout mu obecný přehled užívaných metod, terminologie, teoretických rámců i možností aplikace výstupů analýzy. V praktické části byla nejprve shrnuta data o využívání analýzy práce v českých společnostech získaná pomocí online dotazníku od 135 HR manažerů z malých, středních i velkých firem. Dále byl zpracován popis pracovní pozice a kompetenční model pro dvě pozice ve středně velké výrobní společnosti specializující se na výrobu atypického nábytku. Obě pozice vznikly ve společnosti nově a provedená analýza proto zahrnuje také prvky job designu. Popisy pracovních pozic obsahují povinnosti a úkoly pracovníka, jeho odpovědnosti, pravomoci a pozici v organizační struktuře. Kompetenční model obsahuje žádoucí znalosti, schopnosti, dovednosti, zkušenosti a vzdělání a osobnostní rysy a dále také popisy jednotlivých kompetencí, behaviorální indikátory a požadované stupně pokročilosti. Data pro analýzu byla vygenerována při nestrukturovaných rozhovorech s jednatelkou společnosti a výstupy analýzy byly dále konzultovány s novým pracovníkem na analyzované vedoucí pozici. Rozebrány jsou také zjištěné výsledky v kontextu společnosti, návrhy budoucích aplikací i možné rozšíření stávajícího řešení.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to introduce the reader to the key ideas of work analysis and to provide a general overview of the methods, terminology, theoretical frameworks, and possible applications of the analysis outputs. In the practical part, firstly, data on the use of work analysis in Czech companies was summarised. This data was gathered from 135 HR managers from small, medium, and large companies using an online questionnaire. Next, a job description and a competency model for two positions in a medium-sized manufacturing company specialising in the production of atypical furniture was developed. Both positions are new to the company and the analysis therefore includes elements of job design. The job descriptions include the duties and tasks of the worker, their responsibilities, authority, and position in the organisational structure. The competency model includes desired knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and personality traits as well as descriptions of individual competencies, behavioural indicators and required levels of advancement. The data for the analysis was generated during unstructured interviews with the company's managing director and the outputs of the analysis were further consulted with the new employee in the analysed management position. The findings in the context of the company, suggestions for future applications and possible extensions to existing solution are addressed.
