COMPUTER DRAWING OF MAPS OF THE CONSTELLATIONS AND THEIR PARTS

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na počítačové kreslení map souhvězdí a jejich částí pomocí souřadnic hvězd z katalogů hvězd. Cílem práce bylo poskytnout ucelený přehled o historii souhvězdí, jejich rozdělení, pohybech, vzdálenostech, souřadných soustavách, vlastnostech hvězd, tvorbě map souhvězdí a počítačovém vykreslování. Práce začíná historickým pohledem na souhvězdí, zkoumá způsoby označení hvězd a významné hvězdné katalogy a mapy. Dále se zabývá pravidly pro stanovení hranic souhvězdí a představuje největší souhvězdí. Dále se zabývá rozdělením souhvězdí mezi severní a jižní polokoulí, vliv ročních období na souhvězdí a význam cirkumpolárních souhvězdí. Práce se také věnuje řeckým souhvězdím a jejich původem. Důležitou částí práce je studium pohybů hvězd, včetně kinematiky hvězd a rotace galaxie. Dále jsou podrobně popsány metody měření hvězdných vzdáleností, včetně paralaxy a spektroskopie. V práci jsou představeny základní souřadné soustavy, jako je rovníková soustava, ekliptikální soustava a obzorníkové souřadnice. Dále jsou vysvětleny pojmy jako astronomický azimut a výška, které jsou klíčové pro určování polohy hvězd na obloze. Další část práce se zaměřuje na tvorbu map souhvězdí. Jsou představeny významné katalogy hvězd, jako je HIPPARCOS a SIMBAD, a diskutovány různé způsoby kartografického zobrazení. Práce se také zaměřuje na počítačové vykreslování hvězd jak ve 2D, tak i z prostorového pohledu, který přináší lepší porozumění poloze hvězd. V práci jsou prezentovány pracovní listy pro základní školy a příručka učitele, které slouží jako příručky pro vykreslování hvězd v souhvězdí. V rámci mých podkladů byl doplněn web astronomia.zcu.cz o počítačové vykreslování map souhvězdí a o vytvořené pracovní listy.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on computer-generated drawing of constellation maps and their components using star coordinates from star catalogs. The main objective of the thesis was to provide a comprehensive overview of the history of constellations, their divisions, movements, distances, coordinate systems, star properties, constellation mapping, and computer rendering. The thesis begins with a historical perspective on constellations, examining methods of star designation and significant star catalogs and maps. It then addresses the rules for determining constellation boundaries and introduces the largest constellations. Furthermore, it explores the division of constellations between the northern and southern hemispheres, the influence of seasons on constellations, and the significance of circumpolar constellations. The thesis also delves into Greek constellations and their origins. An important part of the thesis is the study of stellar motions, including stellar kinematics and galaxy rotation. It also provides detailed descriptions of methods for measuring stellar distances, including parallax and spectroscopy. The thesis introduces fundamental coordinate systems such as the equatorial system, the ecliptic system, and horizon coordinates. It further explains concepts such as astronomical azimuth and altitude, which are crucial for determining the positions of stars in the celestial sphere. Another section of the thesis focuses on the creation of constellation maps. It presents significant star catalogs such as HIPPARCOS and SIMBAD and discusses various methods of cartographic representation. The thesis also explores computer rendering of stars in both 2D and spatial perspectives, which provides a better understanding of star positions. It presents worksheets for elementary schools and a teacher's guide, serving as practical tools for physics education. As part of my foundation, the website astronomia.zcu.cz has been enhanced with computer-generated constellation maps and worksheets.
