The Meanings of the Romantic Relationships in the Soap Opera

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje reprezentaci lásky v české mýdlové opeře Ulice. Zaměřuje se na žánr mýdlové opery, vztah fikce k sociálnímu světu a celkové uchopení hodnoty lásky v širších souvislostech západní společnosti. Mýdlovou operu definuje jako reprezentační systém a k nejdůležitějším teoretickým východiskům textu patří koncepce kulturní a žánrové pravděpodobnosti Steva Neala. Prostřednictvím empirického výzkumu a následné analýzy se práce pokouší vysvětlit hlavní způsoby reprezentace lásky v seriálu Ulice, čehož se snaží dosáhnout pomocí nové metody upraveného antropologického pozorování

Abstract:

This work deals with the representation of love in the Czech soap opera Ulice. The first part of this work pays attention to soap operas as a genre, relationships between fiction and social world and sociological approaches to love. It defines soap opera as signifying practice and the main conception of this work comes from Steve Neale´s theory of cultural and generic verisimilitude. The goal of the second part of this work is to analyse the television soap opera Ulice and to explain its ways of representation of love. The partial goal is to present a new method of analysis for the study of media contents that draws on the experience of social and cultural anthropology
