Needs of a patient with the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator

Abstract:

Implantace kardioverter-defibrilátoru je jedním z nejefektivnějších způsobů léčby maligních arytmií a prevence náhlé srdeční smrti. Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit a popsat bio-psycho-sociální a spirituální potřeby pacienta s implantovaným kardioverter-defibrilátorem. Metodika: Pro dosažení stanoveného cíle byla zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná metoda kazuistiky u záměrně vybraného pacienta s implantovaným kardioverter-defibrilátorem. Data byla sbírána formou nestandardizovaného rozhovoru s pacientem a pozorováním, doplňována byla údaji ze zdravotnické dokumentace. Výsledky: Kazuistika popisuje bio-psycho-sociální a spirituální potřeby pacienta s implantabilním kardioverter-defibrilátorem, jejichž saturace byla zdravotními komplikacemi narušena. Pacient v rozhovoru sděluje, jak implantace a následné komplikace zdravotního stavu ovlivnily jeho bio-psycho-sociální a spirituální potřeby. Závěr: Implantabilní kardioverter-defibrilátor je účinný způsob léčby maligních arytmií a prevence náhlé srdeční smrti, jeho implantace však negativně ovlivnila potřeby pacienta.

Abstract:

Implantation of cardioverter-defibrilator is one of the most effective treatment for malignant arrythmias and also works as a prevention of sudden cardiac death. Aim: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs of a patient before and after implantation of implantable cardiverter-defibrilator. Methodology: To achieve the set goal, a qualitative research method of case study in a deliberately selected patient with implantable cardioverter-defibrillator was chosen. The information was obtained in the form of unstructured patient interviews and observations, another source of information was medical documentation. Results: The case study describes the bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs of a patient with implantable cardioverter-defibrilator, whose saturation has often been impaired by health complications. The patient talked about how the implantation and health complications after the implantation affected his bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs. Conclusion: Implantation of cardioverter-defibrilator is effective treatment for malignant arrythmias and also works as a prevention of sudden cardiac death, but it negatively changed patients needs.
