Plant dispersal strategies; examples of fruits and seeds in selected families

Abstract:

Moje bakalářská práce měla za cíl připravit expozici pro Botanickou zahradu Přírodovědecké fakulty Masarykovy univerzity na téma: Jak cestují rostliny po krajině. Expozice by měla seznámit laickou veřejnost se způsoby šíření rostlin a ukázat semena a plody našich běžných čeledí. Expozice se sestává ze dvou částí: První část, ekologická, zobrazuje strategie šíření rostlin. Součástí je i téma šíření nepůvodních druhů, ukázka našich významných invazních druhů a názorná mapa světa s naznačenými původními areály. Této části jsou věnovány čtyři nástěnky velikosti 2 × 1 metr. Druhá část je zaměřena na 9 vybraných čeledí napříč systémem rostlin s důrazem na známé a typické zástupce naší flóry. Součástí jsou semena a plody z vlastních sběrů (celkem 137 druhů). Tato část je na pěti nástěnkách o velikosti 2 × 1 metr. V obou částech jsem použila textové popisky, fotografie (více než polovinu vlastních), vlastní ilustrační kresby, semena, plody a další doplňkové materiály.

Abstract:

The main aim of my bachelor thesis was to prepare an exhibition for the Botanical garden of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University with the title „How the plants are traveling through the landscape“. The exhibition should introduce ways of how plants can spread and show examples of seeds and fruits of our common plant families. The exhibition consists of two parts: The first part features the most important strategies of plant dispersal. It also covers the issue of alien species, with examples of our invasive species and the world map showing their origin. For this part we devoted four show-cases sized 2 × 1 m each. The second part introduces selected plant families, with the focus on the well-known and typical representatives of our flora. For this part, I gathered seeds and fruits of altogether 137 plant species. This part is divided into five show-cases of a size 2 × 1 m each. In both parts, I used text descriptions, photographs (more than half were made by myself), my own drawings, seeds, fruits, and many other materials.
