Experiencing professional role of social worker in our society by chosen social workers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá prožívání profesní role sociálního pracovníka v naší společnosti u vybraných sociálních pracovníků. Autorka hledá odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jak prožívají čeští sociální pracovníci svou profesní roli v naší společnosti? Hlavními pojmy teoretické částí práce jsou sociální práce, sociální pracovník, status a role, identita a prožívání. Za použití kvalitativní výzkumné strategie byly provedeny polostrukturované rozhovory s vybranými sociálními pracovníky. Ke zodpovězení výzkumné otázky bylo formulováno pět dílčích výzkumných otázek. První zaměřená na názor sociálních pracovníků na sociální práci a sociální pracovníky v naší společnosti. Druhá zjišťující temperament respondentů. Tři zbylé výzkumné otázky se týkaly rozumové, emocionální a volní složky prožívání jejich profesní role. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly, že sociální pracovníci prožívají svou profesní roli v atmosféře společnosti, kterou vnímají jako odmítavou. A která se k tomuto povolání staví předsudečně, na základě stereotypů živených mediálním obrazem. Sociální pracovníci zažívají pocity podhodnocení a nedocenění svého oboru, což prožívají negativně vzhledem k jeho psychické a časové náročnosti i vysokým nárokům na vzdělání. Pozitivně svou roli pracovníci prožívají v kontextu s pocity vnitřní spokojenosti a naplnění. Přičemž tyto prožitky se objevují v souvislosti s pomocí lidem a vztahovým rámcem, který jim jejich role nabízí. Na základě všech zjištění autorka přináší doporučení pro praxi, která by mohla sloužit jako inspirace pro sociální pracovníky i veřejnost, a navrhuje způsob, jakým by se dalo prožívání sociálních pracovníků využít při zlepšování povědomí o profesi sociálního pracovníka a zvyšování jeho ohodnocení i společenské prestiže.

Abstract:

This thesis examines experiencing professional role of social worker in our society by chosen social workers. The author has been searching for response for the elementary research question: How are the Czech social workers experiencing their professional role in our society? The main terms of the theoretical part of the thesis are social work, social worker, status and role, identity and experiencing. Using a qualitative research strategy, semi-structured interviews with selected social workers were conducted. Five sub-research questions were formulated to answer the research question. First focused on the view of social workers on social work and social workers in our society. The second is detecting the temperament of the respondents. The three remaining research questions concerned the rational, emotional, and free component of their professional role. The results of the research have shown that social workers are experiencing their professional role in the atmosphere of society, which they perceive as a rejection. And who looks at this profession with prejudice, based on stereotypes fed by the media image. Social workers experience feelings of underestimation and lack of appreciation of their field. They are experiencing this negatively due to their psychological and time-consuming demands and high demands on education. Workers are experiencing their role positively due to the context of inner satisfaction and fulfilment. These experiences appear related to helping people and the relationship framework that their role offers them. Based on all the findings, the author provides recommendations that could serve as inspiration for social workers and the public and suggests how experiencing of the social workers can help with raising awareness of social worker profession and increasing their appreciation as well as social prestige.
