From archaeological thought to exhibitions - Comparison of Czech and Swedish exhibitions

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se pokouší objasnit rozdíly v uvažování lidí v průběhu staletí, a to jak obecně se zaměřením na archeologii, tak v kontextu postupně vznikajících sbírek a následně muzeí a samotných expozic. Autorka se na základě tohoto zevrubnějšího objasnění dané problematiky přesouvá ke kritikám několika archeologických expozic ve dvou evropských zemích a poté se snaží zachytit možné rozdíly v muzejní prezentaci jednotlivých muzeí různých zemí. První z nich je Švédsko a muzea ve Stockholmu, Gävle a Uppsale, prezentující jak chronologické, tak typicky statické expozice. Podobné příklady mohou být nalezeny i v České republice, autorka se zaměřila na muzea v Praze, Brně, Prostějově, Přerově a Mikulčicích.

Abstract:

The thesis seeks for the history of archeological thought in general and mainly context of beginning of the collections and later museums and therefore exhibitions. On the basis of the cultural background the author then focuses on the criticism of archaeological exhibitions in two European countries to find out if there still can be noticed any differences between the curator’s attitude in creating the exhibitions, which mean in presenting the past to the audience. First chosen country is Sweden and its museums in Stockholm, Gӓvle and Uppsala, all together presenting both chronological and static exhibitions. The same could be also found in the Czech Republic, where the author chose archaeological exhibitions in museums in Prague, Přerov, Prostějov, Mikulčice and Brno.
