Abstract:

Bachelor thesis Speaking skills in Teaching Business English deals with speaking as one of four basic language skills and its development in teaching Business English. The aim is to find out the kind of speaking activities which develop students´ fluency and accuracy best, and to analyse the students´ views of these activities. The theoretical part focuses on a learning-centred approach in teaching English as a foreign language within the framework of English for Specific Purposes, and in more detail on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Here are also described different kinds of speaking activities which can be used in the classroom with students of Business English. The practical part concentrates on 6 speaking activities which are analysed by the action research, and assessed according to the given set of criteria. The last chapter of the thesis is devoted to the students´ feedback and its analysis on the basis of a table of frequency.
