Abstract:

V tvorbě Daphne du Maurierové lze spatřit mnoho aspektů literárního natrualismu. Ve třech analyzovaných textech, The Birds, Jamaica Inn a Rebecca, je převažující přítomnost i význam těchto naturalistických aspektů nepopiratelný. Moře, vítr, příliv a odliv, ptáci a počasí mají neuvěřitelný vliv na proměnu děje i vývoj postav. Tyto naturalistické aspekty, které působí jako deterministické síly, stojí v popředí du Maurierových příběhů, určují atmosféru, iniciují zásadní události a obnovují řád.

Abstract:

The works of Daphne du Maurier can be considered as ones possessing numerous aspects of Literary Naturalism. Within the three analysed texts, The Birds, Jamaica Inn, and Rebecca, the predominant presence as well as significance of these naturalistic aspects is undeniable. The sea, the wind, the tide, the birds, and the weather are incredibly influential with respect to the alteration of the plot as well as the development of the characters. Acting as deterministic forces, the naturalistic aspects are at the forefront of du Maurier’s stories, setting the atmosphere, initiating crucial events, and restoring order.
