Populism and the causes of its success in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na fenomén populismu v České republice. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř částí. V první části se zabývám definicí daného pojmu a jeho základními principy, které demonstruji na český populistických politických stranách. Politická komunikace je předmětem druhé části práce a je nedílnou součástí politického procesu, a proto se věnuji předvolební kampaním vybraných stran. Třetí částí práce je část empirická, kde se snažím na základě dat zodpovědět výzkumnou otázku, a tedy proč je populismus v ČR stále úspěšnější k čemuž mi slouží předvolební modely a výzkumy voličské volatility. Poslední částí jsou samotné možné příčiny úspěchu populismu, na jejichž základě následně zhodnocuji výzkumnou otázku. Cílem práce obecně je tedy zjistit proč je populismus stále úspěšnější a jaké jsou možné příčiny tohoto jevu v ČR.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the phenomenon of populism in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into four parts. In In the first part, I deal with the definition of the concept and its basic principles, which I demonstrate on Czech populist political parties. Political communication is the subject of the second part of the thesis and is an integral third part of the thesis is the empirical part, where I try to answer the research question based on data, i.e. why populism is becoming more and more successful in the Czech Republic, I use pre-election models and research on voter volatility to do. The last part is the possible reasons for the success of populism itself, on the basis of which I then evaluate the research. The aim of this thesis is to find out why populism is becoming more and more successful and what are the possible causes of this phenomenon in the Czech Republic.
