Intercultural competence of social workers

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se týká sociálních pracovníků, kteří pracují s imigranty a azylanty a musí disponovat mnoha dovednostmi, aby dokázali těmto lidem pomoci začlenit se do širší společnosti. Cílem mé diplomové práce je zjistit jaké interkulturní dovednosti používají sociální pracovníci při práci s minoritními skupinami. Vyhodnocení proběhlo na základě rozhovorů se sociálními pracovníky v organizacích, kde pracují s minoritními skupinami, který byl zaměřený na jejich dovednosti a zkušenosti. Pro tento výzkum byla zvolena kvalitativní metoda formou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Na základě výzkumu bylo nasbíráno dostatečné množství informací pro určení interkulturních dovedností, které jsou pro sociálního pracovníka při práci s klienty pocházejících z odlišných etnik velmi důležité, a které velmi často používají v praxi. Výsledky výzkumu mohou mít příznivý přínos pro sociální pracovníky, kteří by se o této problematice chtěli dozvědět bližší informace nebo se nechat inspirovat.

Abstract:

This thesis is about social workers who work with immigrants and asylum seekers and need to have many skills to help these people integrate into the wider society. The aim of my thesis is to find out what intercultural skills social workers use when working with minority groups. The evaluation was based on interviews with social workers in organisations where they work with minority groups, which focused on their skills and experiences. The qualitative method chosen for this research was a semi-structured interview. Sufficient information was gathered from the research to identify the intercultural skills that are very important for social workers when working with clients from different ethnic backgrounds, and which they use very frequently in practice. The results of the research may be of benefit to social workers who would like to learn more about this issue or be inspired.
