Possibilities of development of the Smart City concept in South Bohemian municipalities with extended powers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá aktuálním stavem rozvoje konceptu Smart City, neboli konceptu chytrých měst, v Jihočeském kraji. Cílem práce je zmapovat současné podmínky pro využívání konceptu chytrých měst v jihočeských obcích s rozšířenou působností, zjistit, jakým bariérám malá města a obce při realizaci projektů chytrých měst čelí a co by jim pomohlo s jejich překonáním. V první části práce, která je zpracována formou literární rešerše, autorka charakterizuje koncept Smart City jako takový a skrze aktuální výzvy malých obcí jej zasazuje do kontextu České republiky. Druhá část práce, která se soustředí již specificky na Jihočeský kraj, kombinuje metodu literární rešerše a terénní výzkum. Výsledky výzkumu byly použity k sestavení doporučení pro Jihočeský kraj i jeho obce, jejichž realizace by pomohla k širšímu rozvoji konceptu Smart City a v důsledku vedla ke zvýšení kvality života obyvatel Jihočeského kraje.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the current state of development of the Smart City concept in the South Bohemian region. The aim of this work is to map the current conditions for the use of the concept in South Bohemian municipalities with extended powers, to find out what barriers small municipalities face in the implementation of smart city projects and what would help to overcome them. In the first part of the work, which is carried out in the form of a literary research, the author characterizes the concept of Smart City as such and through the current challenges of small communities places it in the context of the Czech Republic. The second part of the work, which focuses specifically on the South Bohemian Region, combines the method of literary research and field research. The research results were used to compile recommendations for the South Bohemian Region and its municipalities, the implementation of which would help the wider development of the Smart City concept and, as a result, lead to an increase in the quality of life of the inhabitants of the South Bohemian Region.
