Schopenhauer's criticism of Kant's categorical imperative and the basis of new etics

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na etickou teorii Arthura Schopenhauera, která sestává ze dvou hlavních tematických částí. První představuje kritiku Kantovy morálky včetně kategorického imperativu, druhá pak předkládá vlastní a originální Scopenhauerovu nauku. První kapitola práce nastiňuje primární literaturu k tématu. Druhá kapitola podává systematický rozbor Schopenhauerových námitek vůči Kantovi ze spisu O základu morálky. Tyto námitky jsou roztřízeny, vysvětleny a konečně hodnoceny pro svou relevantnost. Poslední třetí kapitola hodnotí Schopenhauerovo vlastní pojetí etiky s ohledem na jeho vlastní námitky podané v druhé kapitole.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the ethical theory of Arthur Schopenhauer, which consists of two main parts. The first means the criticism of Kant's morality including the categorical imperative, the second presents Schopenhauer's own original theory. The first chapter of the thesis sketches the primary sources to the topic. The second chapter gives a systematic analysis of Schopenhauer's objections against Kant from the work On the Basis of Morality. Those objections are classified, explained and finally assessed for relevance. The last chapter evaluates Schopenhauer's own concept of ethics using his own objections from chapter two.
