Comparison of the impacts of the Financial crisis and the Pandemic crisis on the Automotive Industry in the United States

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá světovou finanční krizí 2008 a pandemickou krizí 2020 a porovnáním jejich ekonomických dopadů na příkladě automobilového průmyslu ve Spojených státech amerických. Na úvod je udělán teoretický rozbor krizí. V práci jsou dále tyto dvě krize popsány včetně nejdůležitějších událostí, které se staly ve světě a ve Spojených státech. Dále je provedena analýza dopadů obou krizí na americké ekonomice jako celek (na změnu HDP, nezaměstnanost, inflaci a akciové trhy), z čehož je vyvozen předpoklad pro automobilový průmysl. Tento průmysl je analyzován ve třetí kapitole, zkoumanými ukazately jsou výroba aut, prodeje, zaměstnanost, export a import. Na konci třetí kapitoly jsou zhodnoceny dopady obou krizí.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the global financial crisis of 2008 and the pandemic crisis of 2020, and compares their economic impacts on the example of the automotive industry in the United States. The introduction provides a theoretical analysis of the crises. The thesis further describes these two crises, including the most important events that occurred in the world and in the United States. An analysis of the impacts of both crises on the US economy as a whole (on change of GDP, unemployment, inflation, and stock markets) is carried out, from which assumptions for the automotive industry are drawn. This industry is analyzed in the third chapter, with indicators such as car production, sales, employment, exports, and imports being examined. The impacts of both crises are evaluated at the end of the third chapter.
