Dying at home for the elderly from social worker’s point of view

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Umírání v domově pro seniory z pohledu sociálního pracovníka“ pojednává o tom, jaký úhel pohledu na umírání a smrt má sociální pracovník. Cílem diplomové práce bylo zachytit esenci prožité zkušenosti u těchto pracovníků. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část popisuje stáří z pohledu fyzických, psychických a sociálních změn u těchto jedinců. Dále je v teoretické části nastíněna problematika smrti, fází umírání a pohřbívání. Závěrečná kapitola se zaměřuje na problematiku sociálních služeb v České republice, především domovů pro seniory, kompetencí a předpokladů pro výkon sociálního pracovníka. Empirická část práce se zabývá popisem výzkumného šetření, které proběhlo se sociálními pracovníky, kteří pracují v brněnských domovech pro seniory.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Dying at home for the elderly from social worker’s point of view" deals with the perspective of a social worker on the view of dying and death. The aim of the diploma thesis was to capture the essence experience by the experienced workers. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes old age in terms of physical, mental and social changes in these individuals. Furthermore, the theoretical part outlines the issue of death, the stages of dying and burial. The final chapter focuses on the issues in social services in the Czech Republic, especially homes for the elderly, competencies and prerequisites for the performance of a social worker. The empirical part of the thesis deals with the description of a research survey that took place with social workers who works in Brno homes for the elderly people.
