Surnames in Deutsch Brodek, Wachtl, Konice and Nová Dědina

Abstract:

The subject of this diploma thesis is surnames from the former German language island of Deutsch Brodek, Wachtl (Brodek u Konice, Skřípov), and of neighbouring municipalities of Konice and Nová Dědina which had been a part of the Konice manor in the past. The surnames have been acquired from the baptism records and marriage records of these municipalities, dating to the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the objectives of onomastics, defining the terms anthroponym and surname, sound changes in surnames, the proces of German colonization of the Czech lands, and the charakteristics of municipalities. The empirical part contains an etymological analysis of the surnames, on the bases of which they are classified into categories, depending on the way they originated, of surnames derived from names of occupations and crafts, those derived from proper names or from names of saints, those derived from place names, patronyms and matronyms. In the final part of the thesis, the results of the analysis are summarized.

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce jsou příjmení z bývalého německého jazykového ostrůvku Deutsch Brodek, Wachtl (Brodek u Konice, Skřípov) a sousedních obcí Konice a Nová Dědina, které byly v minulosti součástí konického panství. Příjmení byla získána z křtitelních a sňatkových knih jmenovaných obcí z období konce 19. století a 1. poloviny 20. století. Teoretická část práce je věnována předmětu zkoumání onomastiky, vymezení pojmů antroponymum a příjmení, hláskovým změnám v příjmeních, procesu německé kolonizace českých zemí a charakteristice obcí. Empirická část práce obsahuje etymologickou analýzu příjmení, na základě které jsou rozdělena do kategorií dle způsobu vzniku na příjmení odvozená z názvů povolání a řemesel, vlastních jmen a jmen světců, příjmení odvozená z místních jmen, patronyma a metronyma. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty výsledky analýzy.
