The Energy Crisiy: the V4 Countries and the Energy Mix

Abstract:

V4 představovala úzce spolupracující skupinu 4 států (Česká republika, Polsko, Slovensko, Maďarsko). V posledních letech se ale politiky těchto států postupně rozcházejí, a to především ve vztahu k Evropské unii a řešení energetické krize započaté na jaře 2022. Cílem práce je srovnání energetického mixu zemí V4, jejich energetickým politikám a vztahu k EU. Pozornost bude věnována emisním povolenkám a boji s klimatickými změnami. V první části práce bude představena metodologie, na jejímž základě bude provedeno srovnání energetického mixu napříč členskými zeměmi V4. Ve druhé části bude představena uhlíková ekonomika a energetická politika Evropské unie. Třetí část představuje hlavní kapitolu, ve které bude provedena kvalitativní datová analýza spolu se simulací dopadů energetické politiky EU a současné energetické situace na Polsko. Poslední kapitola obsáhne návrhovou část práce, kde budou představeny možné další kroky k nalezení řešení současné situace.

Abstract:

The V4 used to be a closely cooperating group of 4 countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary). In recent years, however, the policies of these countries have gradually diverged, especially in relation to the European Union and the resolution of the energy crisis that began in the spring of 2022. The aim of the thesis is to compare the energy mix of the V4 countries, their energy policies and their relationship with the EU. Attention will be paid to emission allowances and the fight against climate change. The first part of the thesis will present the methodology used to compare the energy mix across the V4 member states. In the second part, the carbon economy and the energy policy of the European Union will be presented. The third part is the main chapter, in which a qualitative data analysis will be conducted along with a simulation of the impacts of EU energy policy and the current energy situation on Poland. The last chapter will contain the proposal part of the thesis, where possible next steps to find a solution to the current situation will be presented.
