Germany as a 'trading state'

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá německou zahraniční a bezpečnostní politikou za vlády kancléřky Angely Merkelové, od roku 2005 do současnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, nakolik se tyto politiky blíží ideálnímu typu teoretického konceptu obchodního státu. Zkoumanými případy jsou bilaterální vztahy Spolkové republiky Německo a Čínské lidové republiky, nasazení příslušníků Bundeswehru v Afghánistánu a německý podíl a role při vyjednáváních o íránském jaderném programu. V úvodu je diskutována a rozpracována koncepce obchodního státu, následuje popis a analýza zvolených zkoumaných případů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with German foreign and security policy in the period of governance of the present chancellor Angela Merkel, since year 2005 to present. The main aim of this thesis is to answer the question how much are these policies similar to the ideal type of the theoretical conception of trading state. Three cases will be examined – bilateral relations of Federal Republic of Germany and People’s Republic of China, contribution of Bundeswehr’s troops to the mission in Afghanistan and German role in the negotiation about Iranian nuclear program. In the first part of the thesis is the theoretical concept of trading state discussed in detail and elaborated, then folllow dscription and analysis of the selected cases.
