Knowledge of Preschool Children and Today´s Lifestyle

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku: Znalosti předškolních dětí a dnešní životní styl. Cílem práce je, při využití standardizovaného testu znalostí předškolních dětí, identifikovat oblasti, ve kterých může docházet k výkyvu ve výkonu, který by měl souvislost s jinými proměnnými životního stylu. Jedná se zejména o populární teorie o množství stimulace dětí vhodnými podněty, dále sledovaná aktivita na informačních a komunikačních technologiích - mobilní telefon, počítač, tablet, Xbox a notebook (u kterých se předpokládá zmařený čas pro nabývání obecných znalostí na úkor získávání dovedností např. ve specifických a v životě neupotřebitelných hrách. Práce také sleduje míru aktivity rodičů (čtení pohádek, zprostředkování encyklopedií, atlasů, naučných pořadů, čas trávený u televizních pohádek, u televizních seriálů a filmů pro dospělé). Další proměnou je i čas, který dítě stráví venku, u prarodičů, v kroužku (sportovní, taneční, hudební, angličtina apod.), v mateřské škole, čas strávený u hry (stavebnice, hračky, stolní hry) a v neposlední řadě čas strávený u kreslení či malování. Sledováno je i kritérium věku, ve kterém dítě nastoupilo do mateřské školy. Cílem mé bakalářské práce je objevit, zda některá z výše zmíněných proměnných nesouvisí s úspěšností v testu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of Knowledge of preschool children and today's lifestyle. With the use of standardized test examining knowledge of preschool children, this thesis aims to identify the areas in which deviation in children's performance related to other lifestyle variables may occur. This mainly includes the well-known theories concerning the degree of children's brain stimulation via appropriate stimuli and monitoring the information and communication technology use - mobile phones, computers, tablets, Xbox and notebooks (that are generally believed to waste the time that is needed to acquire general knowledge and skills, e.g. in the case of playing games that are useless for everyday life). The thesis also studies the amount of parents' activity (reading of fairytales, encyclopedias, atlases, time spent watching the TV documentaries, fairytales, series and movies for grown-up audience). Another variable studied is the time that a child spends outside, with his/her grandparents, in a special interest group (sports, dance, music, English, etc.), kindergarten, playing games (construction kits, toys, board games) and last but not least - the time spent drawing or painting. The thesis also studies the criterion of age in which a child starts to attend the kindergarten. The goal of my bachelor thesis is to find out whether any of the above mentioned variables is related to the test success rate.
