The thesis deals with the portrayal of the American South and its sicial and political features in two vampire series, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries, and their television adaptations. The thesis focuses on racial and gender stereotypes, social stratification as well as psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. Tato práce pojednává o zobrazení amerického Jihu a jeho společenských a politických aspektů ve dvou upírských románových ságách Pravá krev a Upíří deníky a také jejich televizními adaptacemi. Práce se zabývá problematikou rasy, stereotypizací pohlaví, společenskou stratifikací a také psychoanalytickou analýzou Sigmunda Freuda.
